Research notes
Small investigations, explicit assumptions, and questions worth returning to.

Research notes are a place for narrower questions than a textbook chapter can comfortably hold. A useful note records its question, assumptions, method, and limits. It can remain useful even when the answer is provisional.
Current notebook
Section titled “Current notebook”Evaluating bounded agents asks how to measure a tool-using system with a fixed step budget. It distinguishes completion rate from the cost of incomplete runs and works through a small numerical example.
A working convention
Section titled “A working convention”Each note should make it possible to tell an observation from an interpretation. If a number comes from an experiment, keep enough of the setup to reproduce it. If an example is illustrative, say so. Questions that become stable explanations can graduate into the main knowledge base.
